Wichita Falls Window Replacement handles window repair, insulated glass replacement, sash balance rebuilds, screen and solar screen work, patio doors, French doors, entry doors and full window replacement across Wichita, Archer and Clay counties. We work on vinyl, fiberglass, wood, clad-wood and aluminum frames, residential and commercial alike.

The order matters more than the catalogue does. On most houses here the correct answer is a part rather than a product: a spiral balance, a tandem roller, a length of pile weatherstrip, a screen rebuilt with the right spline, a single insulated glass unit dropped into the sash you already own. Those repairs cost a small fraction of a replacement window, and they solve the complaint that made you pick up the phone.

The median home in this city was finished in 1971, and more than four thousand of them predate 1940. Stock that old rewards careful repair, right up to the point where it stops rewarding it, and knowing where that point sits is most of the job. When the frames are racked, the sills are gone, or you are fixing the same window twice a year, we will say so plainly and quote the replacement honestly.

Our Window Services in Wichita Falls, TX

Energy-Efficient Windows and Low-E Glass in Wichita Falls, TX

Energy-Efficient Windows and Low-E Glass

The payback maths on a whole-house Low-E retrofit rarely works in a city where the median home was finished in 1971. We start by finding the openings that are actually costing you money, and most houses have four or five, not twenty.

Vinyl Replacement Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Vinyl Replacement Windows

Vinyl is the sensible default here, and we say that without enthusiasm for the material. It is what the budget supports, it does not need paint, and the good ones hold up.

Fiberglass Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Fiberglass Windows

We will argue against this product on most of the houses we look at, which is an odd way to open a page about it. Pultruded fiberglass is genuinely better than vinyl.

Wood and Clad-Wood Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Wood and Clad-Wood Windows

More than four thousand homes in this city were built in 1939 or earlier, and their windows were made of old-growth wood that is better than anything you can buy today. Ripping those out is usually the wrong instinct, and it is almost always the expensive one.

Aluminum Windows and Thermal Breaks in Wichita Falls, TX

Aluminum Windows and Thermal Breaks

The tornado of 10 April 1979 left twenty thousand people in this city without a home, and the rebuild that followed filled whole neighbourhoods with mill-finish aluminum sliders. Those windows are still in service, and most of the complaints we get about them are fixable.

Double-Hung Windows and Sash Balances in Wichita Falls, TX

Double-Hung Windows and Sash Balances

A double-hung that will not stay up is not a broken window. Nine times out of ten it is a broken balance, and the balance is a part with a catalogue number.

Casement and Awning Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Casement and Awning Windows

A casement that is hard to crank almost never needs replacing. What it needs is a worn operator swapped out, a dry hinge track cleaned, or a sash that has dropped a couple of millimetres lifted back off its frame.

Sliding Windows and Track Repair in Wichita Falls, TX

Sliding Windows and Track Repair

Sliding windows generate more unnecessary replacement quotes than any other product in this market, and the reason is simple. A slider that drags feels broken to the person pushing it, and it is usually two flat-spotted rollers and a dented track.

Bay and Bow Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Bay and Bow Windows

A leaking bay is almost never a window problem, and treating it as one is how people spend five figures without solving anything. The water is coming from the little roof above it, the seat board below it, or the flashing where the projection meets the wall.

Picture and Architectural Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Picture and Architectural Windows

A fixed window has no rollers, no balances, no operator and no lock. It has a frame, a glass unit and a bead holding the glass in.

Egress Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Egress Windows

This is the one page on this site where we will not talk you into the cheaper option. An egress window is a life-safety opening, and a repair that preserves an undersized one is the wrong answer no matter what it saves you on the day.

Impact and Laminated Glass Windows in Wichita Falls, TX

Impact and Laminated Glass Windows

We are going to argue against this product, and we would rather do it here than after you have paid. Wichita Falls sits roughly three hundred miles from salt water.

Patio Sliding Doors in Wichita Falls, TX

Patio Sliding Doors

A patio door that takes two hands and a shoulder is the most over-quoted repair in this trade. The panel weighs a great deal, it rides on two small wheels, and when those wheels wear the whole assembly feels ruined.

French Doors in Wichita Falls, TX

French Doors

A French door that will not latch is usually telling you about the building, not about itself. These doors have two panels meeting in mid-air with nothing but an astragal between them, so they show every millimetre of movement a single door would hide.

Entry Doors in Wichita Falls, TX

Entry Doors

Most people who call about a front door have a weatherstrip problem, a threshold problem or a strike problem, and are about to be sold a slab, a frame and a sidelite. Those three cheap things are worth eliminating first, and one visit does it.

Window Screens and Solar Screens in Wichita Falls, TX

Window Screens and Solar Screens

Screens are treated as an afterthought by most window companies and as a throwaway by most homeowners. In a city with roughly a hundred days a year above ninety degrees, they are the cheapest useful thing you can do to a window, and we take them seriously.

Glass Repair and Insulated Glass Units in Wichita Falls, TX

Glass Repair and Insulated Glass Units

Of everything on this site, this is the page that will save you the most. An insulated glass unit is a separate component sitting inside your sash, and when it fogs, the unit is what failed.

Commercial Storefront Glass in Wichita Falls, TX

Commercial Storefront Glass

Commercial glass in this city divides cleanly in two. There is the pre-war stock around the old downtown and the Depot Square district, and there is centre-set aluminum storefront from the sixties onward along the commercial corridors.

Why Wichita Falls Chooses Wichita Falls Window Replacement

  • We quote the part before the product. A spiral balance, a tandem roller or a length of pile weatherstrip fixes most of what people here are told needs a new window, and we would rather sell you that.
  • We measure glass properly, which is why our insulated units fit first time: sight size plus bite, unit thickness, spacer type, and which surface carries the low-emissivity coating.
  • We say out loud when a repair is throwing good money after bad. A bowed vinyl frame, a racked casement sash or an aluminum house you are already fixing twice a year gets a replacement quote and the reasoning in writing.
  • We will not sell impact-rated glazing three hundred miles from salt water. If you want protection from a tornado we refer you to a shelter builder, because a window is not a shelter and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
  • Solar screens get offered before Low-E replacement on hot west rooms, because stopping the heat outside the glass beats treating it inside the cavity and costs a small fraction as much.
  • Period sash gets restored rather than binned. Epoxy consolidation, linseed-oil glazing compound, a new parting bead and matched counterweights keep original glass in a pre-war house for a third of the price of a match.

About Wichita Falls Window Replacement in Wichita Falls, TX

Wichita Falls Window Replacement exists because this market is full of houses worth repairing and full of companies that only sell replacements. The median home here was finished in 1971 and more than four thousand predate 1940, which is a housing stock that rewards a balance, a roller kit, a length of pile weatherstrip or a single insulated glass unit far more often than it rewards a tear-out.

So we run the trade in the order that serves the owner. Diagnose the part, price the cheapest correct intervention, and put the replacement alongside it only when the frame itself has failed. We do full replacements, we do them properly, and we flash to ASTM E2112 when we do. We simply refuse to lead with them.

Do not hire us if you want a whole-house quote over the phone without anybody opening a sash, if you have already decided on new windows and want a number rather than an opinion, or if you need somebody to agree that hurricane-rated glass makes sense three hundred miles inland. Those are all reasonable things to want. They are just not what we do, and there are firms in this city who will happily oblige.

How It Works

01

Tell us the symptom, not the solution

On the phone we want to know what the window does — will not stay up, fogs, whistles, drags, will not latch. Half of those we can diagnose before we drive out, and a few of them we can talk you through for free.

02

Diagnose the part before pricing the product

On site we open the sash, check the balance type, look at the rollers and the track, read the glass for a failed seal, and test whether the lock actually draws the meeting rails together. The diagnosis decides the quote, not the other way round.

03

Quote the cheapest correct fix, and the alternative

You get the repair price and, where replacement is genuinely the better buy, that price beside it with the reasoning written out. If we think the repair is money into a losing position we put that in writing rather than letting you find out later.

04

Do the work and leave the ratings on the glass

Parts get fitted or units get set on blocks at the quarter points, flashed to the ASTM E2112 sequence on new installs. NFRC labels stay on the glass until you have read them, and the workmanship warranty is written, not implied.

What Wichita Falls Customers Say

★★★★★
Two other companies quoted me a full house. This crew put spiral balances in six windows and a new parting bead in two, and everything works. Cost me less than one of those quotes did for a single opening.
Dale W. · Burkburnett
★★★★★
One fogged pane in the front room. They measured it, ordered the glass unit and set it into the same sash a week later. Never touched the trim, never mentioned replacing anything else.
Marisol T. · Iowa Park
★★★★★
Our place is from the twenties and I expected to be talked into vinyl. Instead they reputtied the sash, rebuilt the sills with epoxy and left the old glass in. Looks right for the house now.
Randy K. · Henrietta
★★★★★
Told them the storefront door was dragging and the glass was foggy. They adjusted the closer, swapped the bottom pivot and replaced two lites. Priced the doors and the glass separately so I could see it.

Commercial window services in Wichita Falls, TX

Storefront glass, aluminum doors and downtown reglazing

Commercial work in Wichita Falls splits between the pre-war buildings around Depot Square and the old downtown grid, and centre-set aluminum storefront put up from the sixties onward along the commercial corridors and out toward Sheppard.

The pre-war stock is usually wood or steel glazed in putty, and the right first move there is reglazing and repointing rather than tearing out a shopfront that carries the character of the building.

The aluminum systems were designed to be serviced: glass comes out from behind a snap-in or screw-applied stop, gaskets and setting blocks are stock items, and door bottom rails, pivots, closers and thresholds are all replaceable parts rather than reasons to buy a new entrance.

We price doors and glass separately so a landlord can see where the money actually goes, and we recommend a thermally broken system only where a single-glazed frame is sweating down the mullions of a conditioned space and the tenant is paying for it every month.

  • Insulated and single-lite reglazing in existing centre-set aluminum storefront framing
  • Commercial door service: overhead closers, top and bottom pivots, arms and hold-opens
  • Aluminum door bottom rail replacement rather than whole-door replacement
  • Tempered and laminated safety glazing in doors, sidelites and panels near walking surfaces
  • Gasket, setting block and pressure plate replacement on serviceable framing
  • Reglazing and repointing of pre-war wood and steel shopfronts
  • Thermally broken storefront upgrades where a single-glazed frame is condensing
  • Board-up and same-week glass ordering for broken storefront lites

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a licensed contractor to replace windows in Wichita Falls?

There is no statewide licence in this state covering residential window and door work, so nobody in the trade here has a licence number to show you. What you should ask for is a certificate of general liability insurance sent directly by the carrier, proof of workers compensation, and a written scope that names the product and the flashing method.

Structural changes such as enlarging an opening for egress do need a City of Wichita Falls building permit, and that we handle.

My window is fogged between the panes. Do I need a new window?

Almost certainly not. The fog means the insulated glass unit inside the sash has lost its edge seal and the desiccant in the spacer has saturated. That unit is a separate, replaceable component in the great majority of vinyl, aluminum and wood sashes.

We measure the sight size, unit thickness and coating surface, order a matched unit and set it behind a fresh bead. The frame, trim and interior finish are never disturbed, and the bill lands nowhere near what a replacement window would.

Why will not my double-hung stay up?

The balance has failed, not the window. Pre-1940 houses here use a sash cord over a pulley to a cast-iron weight in the jamb pocket, and the cord has parted. Houses from the fifties to the seventies use a spiral balance that has either lost tension or sheared at the tip.

Newer units use a block-and-tackle or coil balance keyed to sash weight. All three are catalogue parts, and on a house with eight original double-hungs the whole job often lands under the price of one replacement unit.

Are impact or hurricane windows worth it in Wichita Falls?

No, and we will not sell them to you here. Impact certification is a coastal debris standard for a coastal hazard, and this county is roughly three hundred miles inland with no windstorm requirement in code.

The real severe-weather risk here is tornado, and no residential window is rated for tornadic debris — that is what an ICC 500 or FEMA P-361 shelter is for. Laminated glass on its own merits, for sound, security and ultraviolet, is a different and much cheaper product that we do recommend.

What is the cheapest thing I can do about a hot west-facing room?

Fit exterior solar screens. Solar screen fabric is a woven shade cloth rated by the percentage of solar energy it blocks, commonly 80 or 90 percent, fitted in an ordinary screen frame outside the glass. It stops the heat before it reaches the pane, which no interior treatment and no low-emissivity coating can do.

In a city that averages twenty-eight days a year at or above one hundred degrees it is the best value in this trade, and it costs a small fraction of replacement windows.

When is replacement actually the right call?

When the frame itself has failed. A vinyl frame that has bowed at the jamb, a wood sash whose rail-to-stile joints have opened past glue, a casement sash that has racked so the diagonals no longer match, or an aluminum frame you are already repairing on half the house while chasing condensation stains down the wall.

At that point repair money is going into a permanent flaw. We will show you the corner, the joint or the sill rather than describing it, and then quote the replacement plainly.
